A beautiful antique Austrian porcelain sugar shaker, also known as a muffineer, dating to approximately the turn of the 20th century. This charming footed piece features romantic hand-painted pink and magenta roses surrounded by soft green foliage, with a pale blue top and delicate gold gilt detailing.
The unusual form features four small feet and a domed, perforated porcelain top designed for dispensing powdered sugar. A large opening on the underside would originally have allowed the shaker to be filled and closed with a stopper.
The soft pastel palette and painterly floral decoration make this a wonderful example of early 20th-century Austrian decorative porcelain and a beautiful addition to an antique china collection, tea table, cottagecore kitchen, or grandmillennial display.

CONDITION
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. There is wear/loss to portions of the gold gilt decoration, particularly around the upper rim, along with minor discoloration and wear around the feet/base. The cork/stopper is present but has fallen inside the shaker and is currently stuck within the body. It has not been removed to avoid risking damage to the porcelain. Please review all photographs closely for condition.

Muffineers were decorative table shakers used to dispense powdered sugar and similar finely ground ingredients. Ornately decorated porcelain examples became popular around the turn of the 20th century, and Austrian manufacturers produced many elaborate floral examples for the export market. Comparable Austrian examples are commonly dated to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
