Distinctive signed studio art pottery platter featuring a sculptural three-dimensional lizard resting across a dramatic two-tone glazed surface. The organic oval form combines glossy mustard-ochre and deep brown-black glazing, while the applied lizard is individually detailed in earthy green, brown and rust tones. A large artist's monogram is incised into the underside, though the maker has not been identified. With its dimensional reptile motif and bold organic glazing, this piece makes a striking decorative centerpiece or display object.
