Early 20th Century Louis XVI Revival Leather Fauteuil Armchair

This early-20th-century Louis XVI Revival fauteuil features an oval medallion back, open arms, fluted tapered legs, carved floral rosettes, and decorative brass nailhead trim. The carved wood frame has a warm golden-brown finish, while the distressed brown leather upholstery includes an unusual gold-tooled border around the backrest. Rich with timeworn character, it could serve as a decorative library or bedroom chair or become a handsome restoration and reupholstery project.

CONDITION
Fair vintage/pre-owned condition.

The chair displays considerable age-related cosmetic wear and has a beautifully distressed, timeworn appearance. The leather is heavily dry, cracked, crazed, scuffed, discolored, and worn, particularly across the seat; professional leather conservation or complete reupholstery may be desired. The wood frame has scratches, finish wear, small chips, surface marks, and visible separation around some joints and trim.

The chair is best considered a decorative accent or restoration project in its present condition.
